The bizarre sauna song that rocked the world
Bara Bada Bastu (which translate to ‘just take a sauna) rocked and shocked the world in the 2025 Euro vision song contest and may have jump started the UK’s sauna obsession. Unfortunately, the lyrics don’t quite sound as catchy in English.
Here’s the English Side by side with the phonetic translation so you can see what it sounds like.
We’re gonna sauna, sauna- Vee skah BAH-dah BAHST-oo BAHST-oo
Steam it up and let go of all stress today- OHNG-ohn OHPP oh SLEPP ahl STRESS ee-DAHG
Sauna brothers, we’re the ones who glow BAHST-oo-BRUR-der eh yeh vee sohm GLUR-der
One hundred degrees, oh yes- HOON-drah GRAH-der noh-YAH
Throw it on, till the sweat just sprays- HAYT-tay poh soh SVAYT-tin BAH-rah eer
Oh oh, oh, oh oh
Sauna, yeah
What’s more interesting is the song is a blend of Finnish and Swedish, really showing how cemented in Finnish culture saunas are but how important saunas are to both countries. After each song of the competition was released not only did the majority fans online believe it should have won, Bara Bada Batsu had over 43 million streams on Spotify, that is almost 10x the actual winner Wasted Love by JJ of Austria with 6 million streams. To date Bara Bada Batsu now has 133 millions streams on Spotify and Wasted Love 53 million
The largest Eurovision poll
